How apps are built

Venn is done-for-you rather than self-serve. There are no templates: a dedicated designer and UX designer produce a bespoke app, and the build is fully handled by Venn. The apps are written natively in Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, with no web wrapper.

After launch, the merchant controls the app through a CMS dashboard with a drag-and-drop page editor for fully customizable app pages, including the homepage, shop menu, PDP, account and loyalty pages, with real-time preview and sync. The split is clear: Venn handles the initial bespoke design and the underlying native build and releases, while the merchant manages day-to-day content, layout and merchandising. There is no merchant source-code access or SDK.

How it connects to your store

The app stays matched to the web store through real-time syncing of Shopify metafields and metaobjects, which Venn calls metaobject mimicking, so web-store changes reflect in the app in real time. Third-party functionality, such as search, reviews, loyalty and subscriptions, is bridged through Venn's proprietary middleware, which is how the same tools are offered across many brand apps rather than each being a separate native build.

Checkout uses Shopify's own checkout, and the app also works with Shopify POS, which underpins omnichannel features such as scannable wallet loyalty passes. Localization runs on full Shopify Markets support, with multi-currency, multi-language and expansion or clone store support, and multiple localized apps managed from one build.

Design, loyalty and engagement

Venn's positioning is design-led and retention-focused. Commerce features include app-exclusive products and drops, gift with purchase, shoppable Shop the Look lookbooks and product recommendations. A built-in in-app loyalty program supports tier-based experiences and scannable Apple and Google Wallet loyalty passes synced to the loyalty program and Shopify POS.

Push notifications are unlimited, with segmentation by loyalty tier or spend, scheduling, automated abandoned-cart, back-in-stock and welcome flows, and geo-located pushes triggered near physical stores. An in-dashboard analytics view reports on revenue, AOV and orders. Many of the richer features, including in-app loyalty, Shop the Look, multi-language and geo-targeted push, sit on the Enterprise tier.

What it costs and who it's for

Venn is priced at the premium end, with public tiers. Pro is $1,999/month (the bespoke design and managed build, unlimited standard integrations, unlimited push, Shopify Markets multi-currency and the CMS dashboard), and Enterprise starts at $2,999/month (adding custom design modules, premium integrations, expansion stores, multi-language, in-app loyalty and geo-targeted push). Pricing is fixed monthly with no success fees, and there is a 30-day free trial.

It fits established, design-conscious Shopify and Shopify Plus brands, especially in fashion and cosmetics, that want a bespoke, fully-managed native app rather than a self-serve template, and can absorb a high monthly fee.
